- Locations & Properties - Midland-Odessa, TX
Like many West Texas cities, Midland was first established as a waypoint for trains running through the state’s plains. It’s now much more than that, and the Tall City, as it is affectionately known, is now one of the fastest growing cities in the nation.
Located halfway between El Paso and Fort Worth in the Texas Plains, Midland-Odessa is a metropolitan area consisting of Midland, Odessa, and Andrews. Colloquially known as The Petroplex, Midland-Odessa has been a multi-decade hub for energy operations in Texas, although in more recent years it has become more economically diverse, insulating it from the volatility of the Oil Industry. The area's employment rate is particularly impressive, boasting one of the lowest unemployment rates in the entire U.S.
Historically characterized by a fierce rivalry, Midland and Odessa have shifted since the early 1990s to a relationship marked by friendly competition and economic cooperation, now marketed under the slogan "Two Cities, No Limits."
